Hello, I'm Tabby Lo!
I am a designer, people connector, problem-solver, creator,
story-teller, and artist.
Hello! I am Tabby Lo, a Hmong-American designer based in Anderson, South Carolina. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Graphic Design at the South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University and plan to graduate in May 2025.
Growing up in two cultures heavily influences my work and the way I see the world. For a long while, I rejected my Hmong heritage, due to unequal systems and racism within my educational career. But as I began my journey as a designer, I learned that my cultural identity is not the reason I am experiencing conflicting emotions, but the systems that influence the way people perceive different cultures.
Therefore, my passions lie between the gap between design and community to bring connection, empowerment, and reconciliation. I believe that good, intentional design can bring influential, healing change, and create spotlights for all people because design has become a platform for my own voice as a multicultural woman.
Design has changed my perspective in understanding how significant others are in creating a better, good, and safe environment for all. Empathy, consistency, and truthfulness are the foundation of my design philosophy, and I approach every opportunity with intention. My goal as a designer is to serve as an advocate, fight for justice, and create positive impact with every interaction. Design is relational, an opportunity to create new meanings and share perspectives.
People are the reason why I love design so much and I am always finding myself looking for ways to relate to others through history, art, culture, experiences, and conversations.
I have experience in traditional and digital mediums. Some of these include type design, print and layout, campaign creation, illustration, branding, and more. I love learning and picking up the opportunity to learn new methods to design and create when it comes to projects. I am detail-oriented, intentional, and a hard worker, so I always try to bring my best to the table.
When I’m not designing, you can find me playing video games, spending time outside, drawing, picking up new TV shows, reading collective essays and other non-fiction books, trying a new recipe to cook, and hanging out with friends.
Design is about creating with others and allowing the people around me to realize that they are the answer, I’m just there to help them believe it. If you share the same passions, I’d love to connect and see what we can create together!

Things I Passionately Believe:
It's okay to do things the long, hard, stupid way.
If you work with your passions, you will find more abundance than you realize.
Design is a way of communication and connects all
people, different and alike.
I am where I need to be. Every moment has a purpose.
Art is therapy. No arguments.
Community is crucial to a joyful life.
Worrying about today is enough. Tomorrow has its
own worries.

Things that Interests Me Currently:
Game of Thrones: I loved the TV show... until the end. Now, I'm hoping that House of Dragon will redeem what I'm missing from GOT.
Dungeons & Dragons by Dimension 20: I am LOVING DND right now and Brennan Mulligan is crazy talented in making every story engaging. I also recently did my first campaign with some friends and I understand the hype. I also drew out my character and that was a lot of fun.
Racing to Justice by john a. powell: This book is absolutely insightful and such a though-provoking read. I hope to finish it soon... unfortunately, I'm a slow reader.
2024 Paris Olympics: This is the most engaged I've been in the Olympics, most of this is because of gymnastics, especially Suni Lee (p.s. Suni is Hmong. I had to represent). I've enjoyed and appreciated every sport I've watched thus far along with the graphics @teamusa has been posting for our athletes.
